Rockstar has confirmed that a GTA 6 release is coming!! This is the first official piece of news of a new entry in the franchise from the publisher. However, if you are expecting anymore news about the game then you are out of luck.
In the past few years or so, there has been a lot of rumors flying around about the next GTA VI title. From where it’s set to who the main character(s) will be. Obviously fans of the series are eager to get any kind of news due to the “unprecedented longevity” — as Rockstar’s press release so eloquently described — of the current title.
It might surprise you to realize that it’s already only one year shy of a decade since the release of Grand Theft Auto V back in 2013. It’s life spans over three console generations and it’s still getting new additions to its multiplayer like vehicles and missions. GTA V and Online are still very much active but fans have been itching for a new GTA 6 news for some time now.
Even with the release of the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, where Rockstar basically slapped a new coat of paint on their old titles, fans were far from satisfied. It takes more than an updated movement system and new textures slapped onto an old game. Fans aren’t looking for nostalgia, they want something new.
In a statement released by Rockstar on their website and on Facebook,
“With every new project we embark on, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we have previously delivered — and we are pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway.”
From what the statement reads, it seems like Rockstar has been gearing up for the next-generation of gaming’s GTA entry. Grand Theft Auto has always been a huge hit on consoles, so it makes sense that developers would wait for the technology in home consoles to catch up to fulfill the undoubtedly high standards fans have.
The statement ended with, “We look forward to sharing more as soon as we are ready, so please stay tuned…”
